Whilst we’re still digging through our archives in search of ideas that were half-baked but well-intentioned, we thought we’d share this crazy experiment from last year.

The problem we were trying to solve was the age-old broadcast-designer dilemma; how to get someone to watch your demo reel. As recipients of many a resume and portfolio ourselves, we know that sometimes a talented designer’s portfolio will get lost in the sea of similar inquiries and paperwork. Our idea was to do a little attention-grabbing out the gate…in a funny way.

We decided to acknowledge the harsh reality that most demos end up in the trash, and felt we ought to suggest some over-the-top alternate uses for the reel.

The final result (I use the word final in a metaphorical sense only), was a goofy series of short clips that were a ton of fun to make, but ultimately were not quite right for the way we wanted to portray ourselves.

Holiday Game

Well, I pulled this little number from the far reaches of time. It’s a holiday game we put together for December 2004.

The elements you see throughout the game were built and animated in 3D. With a little actionscript trickary we pull it all together allowing Snowy the snowman to board down the worst ski slope in history. Give it a whirl and post your max distance below. Bet you can’t break 10,000!
